winterberries and snowIt’s interesting to reflect how attitudes about pregnancy have changed. When you come to our office and are given an EDC or “due date’, EDC is actually short for Estimated Date of Confinement.  There was a time when pregnancy was thought to be such a fragile state that a woman should be “confined” to her house.

No longer!  Exercise is now believed to be better for mom and baby than once thought! After all, labor and childbirth is the ultimate exercise:  Laboring for 2 days at home, pushing for 2-3 hours…

Our experience has been that fit moms have more stamina during the pushing phase and recover more quickly.  So, please continue your spinning classes and yoga classes! Have fun, stay fit, and you body will be well prepared for labor and delivery!
